Black history month is February, but festivities started early in a London, ON this past weekend as the group that has organized Black History Month for the past 10 years held a special and exclusive anniversary celebration at a London Museum this past weekend.

In what has become practically a September institution in many Ontario communities, hundreds of runners did their part in the battle against cancer in London, ON this weekend. Over 900 runners managed to raise over $120,000 in the run against cancer throughout the London community this weekend. The event took place at Springbank gardens, and participants were welcome to register on site and then begin their walk, run or bike throughout the park. The event draws both repeat and new supporters year after year.
The print industry is a highly competitive one, especially in towns and cities that have a vibrant local arts scene and a bustling local economy. One example of a busy area in the province of Ontario is London, a metropolis with a renowned local arts scene and the site of many secondary businesses and offices headquartered in Toronto.
It may not seem like the first Canadian city one mentions when considering local art, but London is perhaps the creative capital of Ontario, but unfortunately most folks don’t know it. Painter Scott Kish, a London native, moved to Toronto six years ago in order to network with other artists to support his work. The NHL has plenty of fans across Canada, but with only three Canadian teams currently in the NHL, hockey fans from smaller towns are supporting their local teams in the Canadian Hockey League. Of the CHL’s 60 teams, 51 are based in Canada. Comic Vision, a five day stand-up comedy act that aims to raise money for worthy as well as laughs, is set to tour across Oakville, Vancouver, Calgary and London, ON. The shows will include hilarious fundraising games, a silent auction, interactive fun and inspirational messages. The act tours London, ON on April 26, 2011 with comics Graham Chittenden, James Cunningham, and Debra DiGiovanni. The event is expected to be covered by local printing companies in the London, ON area and by the National Post, who is a listed sponsor of Comic Vision.
